The objective of this specific postdoctoral research proposal is to investigate the integration of cyber ranges, digital twins, and artificial intelligence techniques to improve education across various fields, including cybersecurity. The research examines the possibilities of this comprehensive approach and focuses on developing appropriate tools based on these methodologies for utilization in education and skill development. The research proposal introduces the concept of the "Aarduverse" as a transformative learning paradigm. Aarduverse represents an educational paradigm shift, leveraging high-fidelity digital representations (via digital twins), and advanced AI/LLM mechanisms to generate deeply interactive and immersive environments, enabling learners to navigate consequential decision pathways, embody role-based dualities, and engage with realistic "what-if" scenarios within secure virtual ecosystems. The principal tangible outcome of this research is the Warforge platform—an innovative, gamified cyber range that operationalizes these principles through proprietary AI and LLM-driven mechanisms for dynamic scenario orchestration, impact-centric scoring that quantifies operational repercussions of actions, an intelligent AI Tutor delivering contextualized real-time pedagogical guidance, narrative-enriched missions, and differentiated role-based gameplay for Red, Blue, and Purple teams, complemented by flexible hybrid and on-premise deployment architectures suited to high-assurance and regulated settings.
