Dr. Salvo Guglielmino has a background in both scientific and classical studies. In fact, after completing classical studies in high school, in 2004 he graduated with honors in Physics and subsequently obtained a PhD from the University of Catania with a thesis on Solar Physics. After his PhD, he began working as a researcher, first at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Catania, and later at the Institute of Astrophysics in the Canary Islands where he had previously conducted part of his doctoral research. In 2012, he returned to Catania where he continued his research activities, splitting his time between the Astrophysical Observatory and the University of Catania, where he also taught some Physics courses for the Faculty of Chemistry.

Meanwhile, he decided to pursue his passion for Classical studies and in 2014 he obtained a Batchelor Degree in classical literature, writing a thesis about the astronomy in the Odyssey.

Currently, he is a Senior Researcher at the Catania Astrophysical Observatory, where he also serves as the Head of the Historical Heritage; he is a Subject Matter Expert for some university courses, as well as the Executive Director of the European Association for Solar Telescopes. He participates in various international scientific projects, such as the future European Solar Telescope (EST). At the INSAP XII, he will speak to us about Astronomy in Italian literature of the 20th century.
