
Miltiadis G. Botsis, was born and raised in Corfu, Greece. He completed his undergraduate studies at Panteion University in the Department of Political Science and International Relations and holds a PhD in Economic Geography–Geopolitics from the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting at the Ionian University.
From 2001 to 2018, he served as Head of the Secretariat of the Special Account for Research Funds of the Ionian University. Between 2009 and 2016, he also held the position of Secretary General of the Ionian University. Subsequently, from 2016 to 2020, he served as Coordinator of the Administrative Services of the Ionian University and as Administrative Advisor. In the course of his administrative responsibilities, he oversaw the editing of a number of administrative publications.
For two years (2004–2006), he was a researcher at the Institute for Defence Analyses of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, and he has participated in international NATO meetings. His articles and monographs have been published in academic journals and edited volumes, focusing on the Economic Geography and Geopolitics of the Mediterranean and Adriatic regions. He is the author of the book Geopolitics of the Adriatic-Ionian Region: The Case of Corfu, published by Papazisis (2005), and co-author of the book Geopolitics and Tourism: An Introduction to National Tourism Policies, published by Leimon (2024).
From 2015 to 2021, he served as a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff in the Department of History at the Ionian University, with the academic field of “Historical Geography, with emphasis on the geopolitical and economic dimension during the contemporary period.”
From the academic year 2015 until 2020, he taught the course “Historical Geography and Cartography: Geopolitical and Economic Dimension during the Contemporary Period” in the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology.
From May 2021 to June 2025, he served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Tourism at the Ionian University, with the academic field “Tourism and Geopolitics of Economic Flows.”
Since June 2025, he has held the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Tourism at the Ionian University, with the academic field “Tourism and Geopolitics of Economic Flows,” where he has since been carrying out his teaching, research, and administrative duties.
