Khaled Al-Shehari

Khaled Al-Shehari is an Associate Professor of Translation Studies at Qatar University. He earned an MSc (1998) and a PhD (2001) in Translation Studies from the University of Manchester. His research examines the integration of artificial intelligence into translation across textual genres, the governance and ethics of AI-mediated communication, and methodological innovation in AI-enhanced translation pedagogy. He is co-author of The Arabic–English Translator as Photographer (Routledge), and his work has appeared in The Interpreter and Translator Trainer, The Translator, Translation Spaces, and several edited volumes. He is Lead Principal Investigator of a project, funded by Qatar University, developing an ethical framework for AI-powered translation and communication systems in multilingual contexts, of which the present study forms part. Alongside his research, he teaches translation theory, translation technologies, and subtitling, and works as a practising translator and consultant on translation technology and pedagogy for institutional clients across the Gulf region.
