Tatiana Kaplun

Tatiana Kaplun holds an M.A. Interpreting and Translating (University of Bath) and a PhD in Language Sciences (University of Strasbourg), and has more than a decade of professional experience in the field of conference, business and diplomatic interpreting and intercultural communication. Based in Strasbourg, France, she is accredited with several international institutions and works extensively on the private market as well. Holding a position of Research Fellow with the University of Strasbourg, Tatiana is passionate about conference interpreting history and intercultural mediation and holds a PhD in Language Sciences from the University of Strasbourg. She devotes much of her time to academic research and regularly takes part in international seminars and conferences. A committed conference interpreter trainer, she has taught conference interpreting at ITIRI (Université de Strasbourg) as well as on the Cambridge Conference Interpretation Course (CCIC), and has been invited to train and speak at several other European universities. An active member of several professional associations, including the Société française des traducteurs (SFT) and AIIC. In 2022-2023 she oversaw the development of the AIIC France Mentoring & Outreach Programme, which aims to provide better support to novice interpreters, and assist them in their professional development. The programme has since proven to be a success, and has received praise and support from the professional community, leading to new partnerships with other professional associations and other regions and bodies within the AIIC family. A meeting and event organiser since 2016, Tatiana has been devoting time to consulting work since 2020.
