Rozalia Founta
Association of Greek Sign Language Interpreters

Rozalia Founta is a certified Greek Sign Language (GSL) interpreter with 19 years of professional experience across a wide range of settings, including education, government ministries, conferences, community services, and Video Relay Service (VRS). Her background in Social Work and Education, combined with advanced studies in Multilingual Interpretation and Translation at the University of Siena, supports her work in complex multilingual environments. Her current academic research explores interpreting from sign language into spoken language in VRS, addressing key challenges in the Greek context, particularly in police-related VRS and VRI calls, employing Braun and Clarke's thematic analysis within a theoretical framework informed by Skinner (2024). This work is considered among the first of its kind in Greece. She maintains an active presence at both international and domestic conferences, having presented at events such as the Together Conference, the final conference of the MITS programme, and the 1st Panhellenic Conference of GSL Interpreters, as well as having delivered a webinar with EFSLI. Alongside interpreting, she contributes to interpreter training and continuous professional development, promoting quality and ethics in the field. She has served for many years on the Board of SDENG (the Association of Greek Sign Language Interpreters), currently holding the position of Vice President.
